Interested in developing animation and art work that stirs an audience and spurs a response? Our Media Art & Animation program will develop your creative skills in this wide-ranging field.
The Media Arts & Animation program begins with a foundation in drawing, color, character design and computer applications. Under the guidance of an industry-experienced faculty, you'll examine advanced 2-D and 3-D animation principles as well as story development, background design, scenic layout and special effects. You'll work with program specific software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, and Discreet's 3D Studio Max.
Creative Careers
At graduation, you will have an individualized digital portfolio to showcase your creative skills in traditional and digital 2-D and 3-D techniques and abilities. Entry-level opportunities exist for Media Art & Animation graduates in computer generated lighting, compositing and rendering, as storyboard artists, texture artists, computer modelers, computer-generated special effects artists, broadcast graphic artists, background painters, forensic artists and video post-production artists. |

The Westwood College's Animation Program includes hands-on training in such areas as the laws of human motion, physics, psychology as applied to 3D characters, life drawing and rendering techniques, special effects, 3D animation, and the application of audio and video to an animation project.
The Bachelor of Science in Animation equips students with the skills necessary to enter the field of animation. Westwood's animation training covers topics such as the laws of human motion, physics, psychology as applied to 2D or 3D characters, life drawing and rendering techniques, and the application of audio and video to an animation project. In addition, the combination of management and general education courses in the animation training program helps students apply skills in general management, critical thinking, logic, communication, and problem solving to workplace challenges.
Westwood College's Animation Program includes critical business courses that cover such topics as project management, determining client need, working within a team environment, and working within a deadline. The Bachelor of Science in Animation prepares students for entry-level positions including graphic artist and assistant animator for Web-based or computer-based team projects. Other great jobs include multimedia designer, graphic designer, production artist, and Web page designer for Web-based or computer-based team projects.
